Looking after your cake
How to get your cake home safely, keep it at its best and serve it beautifully.
Looking after your cake
- Transporting your cake
- Carry your cake on a flat, stable surface such as a car boot floor or footwell — never on an angled seat. Keep it level, secure it against sliding, and drive gently.
- Heat & sunlight
- Keep your cake out of direct sunlight, away from heaters and out of hot vehicles. Buttercream and ganache soften quickly in warm rooms.
- Handling
- Support the cake board from underneath when moving it, and use a clean, warm knife for neat slices.
- Non-edible decorations
- Some decorations — toppers, dowels, wires, ribbons, picks and acrylics — are not edible and must be removed before serving. We'll point these out at handover.
Your cake may come with specific instructions at collection or delivery — please follow those in preference to this general guidance.
