Looking after your cake

How to get your cake home safely, keep it at its best and serve it beautifully.

Looking after your cake

Transporting your cake
Carry your cake on a flat, stable surface such as a car boot floor or footwell — never on an angled seat. Keep it level, secure it against sliding, and drive gently.
Heat & sunlight
Keep your cake out of direct sunlight, away from heaters and out of hot vehicles. Buttercream and ganache soften quickly in warm rooms.
Handling
Support the cake board from underneath when moving it, and use a clean, warm knife for neat slices.
Non-edible decorations
Some decorations — toppers, dowels, wires, ribbons, picks and acrylics — are not edible and must be removed before serving. We'll point these out at handover.

Your cake may come with specific instructions at collection or delivery — please follow those in preference to this general guidance.
